ason...and Jack s drug habit. And finally, the cougar and Chase. The trailer was awesome...can t wait. Posted by: marc | October 25, 2007 at 10:06 PM  I haven t been seeing the torture as a political statement as much as the result of a head writer (Howard Gordon) running out of ideas, like a guitar that s down to one string and the musician doing what he can on that string instead of fixing it. IMO Gordon s well ran dry in season 3; that was when you could see the writing taking the obvious path every time. That was also when Jack, rather than outsmarting the bad guys, simply obeyed them and killed an innocent person (Ryan Chappelle) on their orders. That was my personal shark-jumping moment. All Gordon has to do is bring in more writing help, like Rowan Atkinson did for Blackadder after the first series (which made a HUGE difference, as he has stated). But Gordon just spouts crap about how writing on the fly suits the nature of the show, which is BS-speak for “It’s my baby and I don’t want anyone’s help, even if it’s for its own good.” It also ignores the vast gulf in quality between the first half of season one (which was worked out in advance and is probably the best suspense television ever created) and what he s giving us now.People only have one complaint about the show-–certainly not the acting or production values, just the writing. When you have only one major weakness but can’t be bothered to fix it.... Posted by: Calidore | October 26, 2007 at 07:10 AM  Great, another season of (now) 168, errr, 24. Show jumped the shark in Season 2 folks. Just terrible television. Posted by: Clark W. Griswald | October 26, 2007 at 07:49 AM  for background on how 24 and other shows depict torture, and how that influences US soldiers in the field, check out Human Rights First s primetime torture project:http://www.humanrightsfirst.org/us_law/etn/primetime/index.asp  Posted by: steve | October 26, 2007 at 09:26 AM  Sum it up in one word -Sick. I used to love 24, but their continued and increased use and advocacy for torture, which military experts say doesn t work and I consider immoral, got to be too much for me. I can t support this show any longer. ___________________Ellie:Do you REALLY believe that torture is NOT a good way of handling, let s say, those pesky terrorists?? Killing hundreds and thousands of people because of a skewed version of their religion is immoral. Torturing those that are guilty of it is not if it can prevent future atrocities from happening again and again and again. PS Most of 24 fans don t care if you don t watch anymore. I suppose you want Jack Co. to sit around a table with the bad guys and discuss peacefully on ways to stop the bad guys from harming anyone.  Posted by: Barry | October 26, 2007 at 12:11 PM  There is enough torture going on in real life, I don t need to have it in my entertainment. 24 started out as a smart thriller. Now it is trash, and neocon trash at that! Posted by: lee | October 26, 2007 at 12:21 PM  A little perspective, please! I am against the use of torture by the US in real life, but this is television! It s fiction!!Scarier than 24 s depiction of torture are people or governments who base policy and interrogation procedures on fictional television shows.... Tony was great and killing him off was the worst thing they did, bringing him back is interesting, but now its evil Tony, vans store, and its a difficult concept to swallow for die hard fans. I m looking forward to 7 though. I m glad the producers realized season 6 sucked, and they seem to be going all out to make it their best season yet. Now how about bringing back Edgar?  Posted by: Glenn | October 26,Vans Snakeskin Veins Slip On Red, 2007 at 01:38 PM  Well, who wants to watch 24 anymore? I think 6 season was enought. I lost m
